Where every recipe tells a story. From traditional Argentine flavors to homemade creations made with love, discover a world of sweetness, simplicity, and soul.
In 1994, my life changed forever. I became a widow at just 29 years old, with three young children to care for. In the midst of grief, I found strength in something that had always been with me: cooking.I began selling homemade meals from my kitchen, and little by little, the desire to transform that love into a lifelong path grew.
I always loved welcoming guests into my home and preparing food for my children’s birthdays. Cakes, desserts, savory dishes – all made with one essential ingredient: LOVE. In those early years, cooking from home was my way of supporting my family. Friends and relatives placed orders, and every Saturday I would deliver them with my children by my side. It was our shared effort, and a way to move forward together.
In 2000, I remarried and we emigrated to the United States. For over 20 years, I worked cleaning houses, but my love for cooking never left. People would often ask, “Sandra, when will you cook for us again? We’re waiting for you.” With time, my health began to decline, and after major back surgery, I knew I could no longer do physical labor. That’s when I decided to listen to my heart – to create again. During the pandemic, I cooked more, experimented with new recipes, learned about sourdough bread, and realized that God had given me a gift: to cook with love for others.
And so, Casa Porteña was born – a place that reflects not only the flavors of my homeland, Argentina, but also my story, my creativity, and my soul. Sweet, Simple & More is more than a name; it’s my way of sharing sweetness, simplicity, and so much more – passion, family, and love. This is my legacy for my children and grandchildren: to rise every day with dignity, hope, and faith. Cooking is not just food; it’s a piece of me and my history.
